Brian Hutchinson is the President with, and one of the six founding members of Firefighters Without Borders Canada (FWB Canada). As one of the original team to deliver multiple fire service apparatus and training to El Salvador in March 2008, Brian remains dedicated to furthering the efforts of FWB Canada in regards to the various international aid projects being undertaken. Brian has been an active member of the Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services since 2000. He was the recipient of Firefighter of the Year Award 2008. An instructor with the VF&RS EMS program, Brian also is involved as an Instructor with St. John Ambulance, the Canadian Red Cross, and the Vancouver Fire Fighters Community CPR Program. He also actively participates in the delivery of a wide range of programs through the Community Services/Public Education Division. An active member of the VF&RS Honour Guard, Brian currently serves on the executive of that organization as the Secretary Treasurer. Currently he is also the Chair of the Vancouver Fire Fighters Union local 18 Public Relations Committee and serves on the Vancouver Fire Fighters' Charitable Society as a Director. Additionally, Brian has been involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Canada, BC & Yukon Fire Fighter Advisory Board for several years and is currently the Chair for that organization.
John Nicholson is a Director, and one of the six founding members, of Firefighters Without Borders Canada (FWB Canada). John is currently the chairman for the fundraising committee for Firefighters Without Borders Canada He was involved in the delivery of three fire engines to El Salvador in March 2008, and is dedicated to the continued success of cross-border emergency services relationships. John has been an active member of the Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services since 2002, and is currently specialized in High Angle/Confined Space Technical Rescue. He is a computer instructor for VF&RS. He is also a Sports & Venue Manager for the 2009 World Police Fire Games and the Local 18 Representative for the BC Professional Firefighters’ Burn Fund.John is also the Chair for the FWB Canada fundraising committee. In 2008 Fire Chief Ray Holdgate presented John with a Citation in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication in regards to the delivery of international aid to the fire service of El Salvador.
Derek Dickson is a Director, fundraising, of Firefighters Without Borders Canada. He has been a member of FWB since 2008 and was a team member on the inaugural deployment to Paraguay in 2009. Derek then returned to Paraguay as the team leader in 2010 and 2011 and continues to assist FWB in collaborating with the volunteer Fire Service in Paraguay to develop a National Program that would extend the delivery of equipment and training into Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay . Derek has been in the fire protection industry since 1989 and for the past 12 years has been a member of the North Vancouver City Fire Department. Derek has specialized in fire investigation and inspection, is a CBRNE certified HazMat technician and a medical first responder instructor.
Jeffrey Moore is a Director, External Relations and one of the six founding members, of Firefighters Without Borders Canada (FWB Canada). He has served as Honorary Consul of El Salvador in Vancouver since 1990. In this capacity he has worked closely with Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services for many years and this collaboration has resulted in the development of strong relations not only between the firefighters in Vancouver and El Salvador but in bi-lateral relations between the two nations as well. Jeff travels regularly to El Salvador building on his humanitarian aid projects that support health care, educational initiatives and the national fire service. He is active in community service including being a Director of the Canadian Paraplegic Association and is a consultant with BMO Harris Private Banking. His family has 160 years of service in El Salvador. In 2008 Jeffrey was given the position of Honourary Deputy Chief by Vancouver Fire & Rescue Service Fire Chief Ray Holdgate, for his outstanding work. CONGRATULATIONS Jeffrey!!!
Randy Dubbert is a Director, Vice President and one of the six founding members, of Firefighters Without Borders Canada (FWB Canada). He was involved in the delivery of three fire engines to El Salvador in March 2008, and is dedicated to the continued success of cross-border emergency services relationships. Randy has been an active member of the Vancouver Fire Rescue Services since 1995, and is currently an instructor with the Emergency Vehicle Operator ( EVO) program. Randy has traveled extensively throughout central and south America. In 2008 Fire Chief Ray Holdgate presented Randy with a Citation in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication in regards to the delivery of international aid to the fire service of El Salvador.
Bob Dubbert is a Director - Apparatus & Equipment for Firefighters Without Borders Canada. (FWB Canada) He has been a member of FWB Canada since 2008; was appointed a Trustee later that same year, and in 2009 was elected as a Trustee. He was then elected to the his current position in 2010, and is responsible for the collection, sorting, inventory, and distribution of all donated equipment to FWB Canada. He has deployed four times with FWB Canada- to El Salvador in 2009 & 2010, and to Peru in 2010 & 2011, teaching hose & ladder evolutions, ventilation, Incident Command, RIT, Fire Scene Safety and Fire Ground tactics. Bob is a Lieutenant with the Vancouver Fire Rescue Services with 22 years service. He is a certified HazMat Instructor, having served on the department's HazMat Team since 1994, and previously served as an Auto Extrication Instuctor and Fire Safety House Instructor. With VFRS, he has been a member of the Honour Guard 1990-1992; Public Relations & Calendar Committees 1992-1994; M.D.Committee 1994; and is currently a Director of the Vancouver Fire Rescue Historical Society. He also served as the the project lead from 2005-2007 for the design, build and equipping of the department's new HazMat & Air/Light Units.
Kim Saulnier is a Director,Treasurer of Firefighters Without Borders Canada. (FWB Canada) Kim is in her 15th year as a career fire service member with Coquitlam Fire Rescue. She served her first 14 years in Fire Dispatch and has recently moved into the position of Fire Inspector and Fire and Life Safety Educator. Kim has deployed twice to El Salvador with Firefighters Without Borders Canada undertaking the duties of Logistics Coordinator.
